Music: Sara Colman Quintet

Sara Colman makes her debut visit to The Be-Bop club, bringing her quintet of longstanding collaborators.

The ensemble will perform music from Sara’s album Ink on a Pin: A Celebration of Joni Mitchell featuring arrangements of songs drawn from the albums Blue, Court & Spark, Hejira, The Hissing of Summer Lawns, Clouds and Wild Things Run Fast.
Inspired by her love of classic songwriting and known for her instinctive improvisational energy, this project showcases Sara’s versatility as she weaves elements of jazz, folk and Americana into these captivating interpretations. Fans of Joni will delight in this rare opportunity to hear Mitchell’s music performed live and imbued with expanded improvisation from this collection of wonderfully sensitive and expressive musicians.

Guitarist Steve Banks provided a memorable sold-out gig at the club back in January performing music from his Emboldened album with his own quintet, which also featured Rebecca Nash on keys. Bassist Ben Markland and drummer Jonathan Silk are highly respected players on the Birmingham scene and will be travelling down to perform for tonight’s gig.
